Most Beautiful Maynard
My grandmother, Naomi Bentwich, bequeathed me her large silver hair brush and claw foot mirror in the shape of a heart. She also left behind her story. It’s quite a story.
The seventeenth century philosopher, Baruch Spinoza, wrote that “no love, save intellectual love, is eternal”. Naomi liked this quote. It summed up her feelings for her employer of six months, the economist John Maynard Keynes, towards whom she nurtured a lifelong and devastating love.
The book I’m writing, inspired by Naomi, is an ongoing project.
